A big and beautiful
Maymarriny Wunungmurra Yidaki, a simple conical shape with a lovely finish
to the wood. A great player with good backpressure, this Yidaki has great
volume with a rich, full bass, and notable resonance. A nice easy player
that sounds great, with a nice easy toot, and it pumps out that Arnhem
Land sound. Plays in the key of D, first hoot key is F#, the bell measures
10.5cm x 9cm. |

Another big and beautiful
instrument, this time from Bathalwuy. This instrument has great balance;
it lies really well in the hand when being played, and punches out the
sound with great volume and beautiful rounded resonance. Nice bass, easy
hoot, beautifully simple artwork, excellent backpressure, a real pleasure
to play. Plays in the key of C#, first hoot F, the bell measures 7.5cm
max. |

An outstanding Buyangirr
Ganambarr Yidaki painted in Ochre’s; you can really feel the texture of
this instrument. We are not sure how it manages to pump out the sound
it does, but believe us, it does. Looking quite diminutive next to some
of the others, looks can be deceiving; this Yidaki has a beautifully rich,
rounded and sonorous tone with notable resonance. Good back pressure makes
it an easy player, a nice easy toot, plays in the key of C, first hoot
F#, the bell measures just 6cm. |

Another outstanding Buyangirr
Ganambarr Yidaki painted in Ochre’s; again, you can really feel the texture
of this instrument. Another surprising instrument whose voluminous sound
belies its size. This Yidaki has a beautifully rounded, rich and sonorous
tone with great resonance. Good back pressure makes it an easy player,
a nice easy toot, plays in the key of D, first hoot F#, the bell measures
just 7cm max. |

a pleasure to play. Plays in the key of F, first hoot A, the bell measures
